We believe in selecting wines that have been crafted by individuals who have a clear story to tell. Over the years we have found that small family producers rather than large corporate wineries can transmit their sense of place and their region of origin in a clear and refined way. It is no surprise that these are the wines that are so magnificent at table. Our Wines By The Glass Program in particular features these one of a kind producers.

The successful UpStairs on the Square Wine Event Series is designed to highlight wines and producers that are deserving of extra attention. These events are fun to come to with friends and family, but just as fun to come to alone. Seating is communal, talk centers around wine and food, and it is a convivial meeting of the minds. Often a producer or winemaker is present. Sometimes we feature events that capitalize on the vast knowledge and experience of our bar manager, Augusto Lino (known as Lino by all who frequent our bar), whereby he leads tastings of exotic rums or tells us all how to mix the perfect “occasion” cocktail. Our last Scotch dinner, featuring blends from the famous maker Balvenie, was a very popular offering. Most often, the series events are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Our series takes two forms:

Wine Tastings where we pair four wines with four different small plates; often these are held in the Zebra Room at a communal table with our chef herself delivering delicious morsels in exchange for a glass of what we’re tasting;

Wine Dinners with a full four or five course tasting menu paired with wines around a theme – a vertical tasting of vintages, a tour of a winemaking region, a winemakers’ barrel samplings, a celebration of Chianti, etc. In all cases, these special dinners, usually in the Soirée Dining Room, are meant to showcase our chefs’ creativity and delve into a special and interesting group of wines – all in a private space in the lively company of like-minded wine lovers.
